When Duty Calls: Pangel™ for Working Pet Parents

When Duty Calls: Pangel™ for Working Pet Parents

We can count on our pets to be the ultimate companions. They bring us unbridled joy and show unconditional love.

Emotional support? You got it. Pets can be wonderful listeners and are always there to greet us with wagging tails or a purring cuddle. They're incredibly comforting in times of stress or uncertainty.

Looking to be more active and social? A pet is great for that, too! We take them on walks or enjoy opportunities to engage with other pet owners at pet stores, parks, or other pet-related events.

Pets can help reduce stress and anxiety and improve our overall mental health. The National Institutes of Health report, "Interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure.” Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and boost your mood. Perhaps most powerful, they provide us with a sense of purpose as we take care of them and watch them grow; they're truly a positive presence in our lives!

The time with our pets is precious; we'd spend all day with them if we could! However, that's just not the reality for most pet parents.

Working pet parents are charged with meeting work responsibilities while being a fully-present and responsible pet owners. As much as we wish we could be with our pets around the clock, it's necessary to prepare for the times when we're separated.

Challenges for Working Pet Parents

Balancing work and pet responsibilities can be a daunting task for working pet parents. Each day can include many decisions and challenges.

One of the major challenges they face is ensuring that their pets get enough exercise and attention during the day, especially if they have to work long hours. This challenge is particularly pronounced for those who live in apartments or areas without access to a backyard, as their pets may not have enough space to move around and play.

Another significant challenge is finding affordable and reliable pet care options when they are away from home. Many working pet parents resort to hiring dog walkers or pet sitters to take care of their pets while they are at work, but finding trustworthy and dependable professionals can be a task in itself. Additionally, some pet parents may not have the financial resources to hire professional help, which can further exacerbate their worries and guilt about leaving their pets alone.

Working pet parents may also struggle with feelings of guilt or worry about leaving their pets alone for extended periods of time. They may worry about their pets' emotional and physical well-being and feel guilty about not being able to spend more time with them. These feelings can be particularly intense for those who have rescue pets or pets with special needs.

Despite these challenges, many working pet parents find creative solutions to make it work and provide their furry friends with the love and care they need.

Some may opt to work from home or take their pets to work, while others may enlist the help of friends or family members to take care of their pets. Whatever the approach, responsible working pet parents are committed to doing their best to ensure that their pets are happy, healthy, and well-cared for.

3. Invest in toys and puzzles: Toys and puzzles can keep your pet entertained and mentally stimulated while you're away. Consider getting puzzle feeders or treat-dispensing toys to keep your pet occupied.

4. Use a pet camera: A pet camera can help you keep an eye on your pet while you're away. Some cameras even have two-way audio, so you can talk to your pet and offer reassurance.

5. Take breaks: If possible, try to take breaks throughout the day to check on your pet. Even a short visit can make a big difference in your pet's day!
